The USBG Nominating Committee is excited to announce that the search is officially underway for new members of the National Board of Directors! Each year, the Board helps set the vision and direction for the organization, and this year we are seeking candidates with expertise in four priority areas:
2026–2028 Key Skill Sets
Legislative Advocacy
Understanding the policymaking process and effectively representing the needs of our industry and community to decision-makers. This skill ensures the USBG’s voice is heard on issues that matter most.
Marketing & Social Media Trends
Harnessing digital platforms and innovative communication strategies to expand visibility, engage members, and share the USBG story with a broader audience.
Strategic Partnerships
Building and sustaining collaborations with organizations, sponsors, and allies that create new opportunities, resources, and impact for the USBG.
Chapter Management
Strengthening the local chapter network through governance knowledge, leadership support, and strategies that encourage growth, sustainability, and member engagement.

The Role of the Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is tasked with identifying and vetting prospective Board candidates. Beyond skills and experience, we are also seeking individuals who reflect the diversity, passion, and creativity of the USBG community. Our goal is to build a Board that brings a variety of perspectives, ensuring decisions are inclusive and mission-driven.
After all applicants have been reviewed, the Nominating Committee will select a slate of three candidates to move forward in the election process. This slate will be presented to the membership for voting, ensuring a fair and transparent process that highlights the strongest leaders to guide the USBG into the future.
Background: In 2023, the USBG transitioned to this slate election format for appointing new members to the Board of Directors. The change was made to ensure that the Board is as representative of the Guild’s membership as possible. Slate elections not only confirm that candidates meet the necessary qualifications, but also emphasize the lived experiences and perspectives they bring to enrich the Guild’s leadership.
