After stopping by the registration desk to check in, many attendees met for the first time at the Captain Morgan Cool Down Pool Party. Music, rum mojitos and conversation flowed under the sun at the Ocatilla Pool.
The Welcome Reception dinner gave attendees an opportunity to explore the grounds of the beautiful Biltmore hotel and meet USBG board members and staff. Following dinner, the first day's celebrations continued with the USBG Documentary Screening and Cigar Party sponsored by Uncle Nearest in the Gold Room and Patio. Viewers had the opportunity to hear from Mike Morgan of Lane Avenue Studios, Executive Director Aaron Gregory Smith and Francine Cohen, who worked together to produce the film, which chronicles the beginnings of the Guild and reveals a vision for the Guild's future.

Monday started with a trail hike for anyone willing to battle the heat in order to capture some amazing views! Attendees got in a much-needed workout before afternoon education tracks were scheduled to begin. The SAFE Bar Network also held one of two bar safety training sessions.
The highlight of Monday afternoon was the Liquid Legacy presented by Livio Lauro with T. Cole Newton, and sponsored by Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits, in the Frank Lloyd Wright ballroom. During the Liquid Legacy presentation, Livio Lauro took the room on a journey through USBG history, including the Guild's small beginning in 1961 which led to founding members officially forming the Guild in 1971. Livio touched on the history of the Tommy's Margarita and why it is considered the official drink of the USBG, and how the very first female bartenders made their way into the Guild. Livio also had the opportunity to esteem members who played an essential role in shaping the Guild, and members got to try a classic vintage cocktail which inspired the internationally-awarded cocktail the Saturn.
Education sessions held Monday afternoon brought opportunities for members to learn about implementing sustainability practices, sample Japanese spirits, build leadership skills and more. At dinner Monday evening, members had the opportunity to meet event sponsors, and taste spirit and cocktail samples while picking up some awesome swag! After a great meal, tasty cocktails and great conversation, it was time to head to Late Night with Johnnie Walker at Century Grand for an immersive experience with Johnnie Walker Whiskies.
Attendees who shuttled to Century Grand enjoyed a cocktail tour of the senses! Guests began their flavor journey by selecting a cocktail with fruity, fresh, spicy or smoky qualities. In the Tiki bar, samples of popular cocktails were served up fruity drinks with fun names like 'The Incantation'. At the last stop of the tour, guests boarded the Train car to try their hand at mixing a custom blend of Johnnie Walker whiskey.
